If you're looking for a pup and you can't wait for one of ours here's some tips to find one, Look for the Border Terrier Breed Clubs nearest to you and phone the secretary, usually they can put you in touch with responsible breeders. The links to all the Border Terrier Clubs are on the links page 2 or go to my first links pages and look up Champdogs there's quite a lot of good breeders on there (and some not, it's up to you to assess the breeders of your pup and decide,) also check on epups...same story there's good bad and the ugly on there, you need to filter out the good from the first time haven't got a clue breeders, the just want your money and couldn't care less kind of breeders and those who you trust to get your new family member from. Remember a good breeder will be interested in you and the future welfare of their pups, not just how quick can you pay and collect, if they don't ask you any questions then they are not the kind of person who should be breeding dogs. Please don't support puppy farmers by buying from a puppy supermarket that sells all popular breeds
If you contact the Kennel Club about pups for sale please be aware of the following, a lot of irresponsible, puppy farming or just plain stupid and ignorant 'breeders' use their services alongside the good ones. The KC will take anyone's money.
Regarding the much trumpeted 'Accredited Breeders Scheme' I add the following observations for you. Just because a breeder is NOT listed on the scheme doesn't mean they are NOT good breeders, quite the contrary a lot of breeders who are responsible and do relevant health checks (without the say so of the Kennel Club) refuse to pay to be patted on the head by the Kennel Club for using their own initiative regarding the future health of their pups I'm included in that category and resent the implication by the KC that because I'm not paying I'm not a good breeder. Also there's the implication that an Accredited Breeder is a good breeder NOT necessarily true either, there are people on the scheme who have never ever bred a litter, how does that work then????
And in all cases remember 'let the buyer beware' good hunting.
